Happy Valentine's Day!❤️

Bright Beginnings' students are bringing home a special package today. Students are receiving a "take and make" spaghetti meal, recipe, and story. We look forward to families sharing pictures of their experience. Happy cooking!

Douglas students were lucky enough to get to play in the snow recently, making Snow Angels and Snowmen!

Thank you for making our Bright Beginnings family night a success! We loved seeing our school community come together for fun, laughter, and memories!!!

Preschool students at Douglas didn't let the colder temperatures stop them from enjoying the playground!!!

📚 Third Grade Reading Buddies!❤️☀️📖 Lincoln Third Graders visited preschoolers at Bright Beginnings today as reading buddies. Bigs were able read with Littles and then enjoy some time learning through play! What a great opportunity to build relationships, promote early literacy, connect our schools, take care of others, and best yet….for kids to be kids! We’re so thankful for this partnership with Bright Beginnings and the incredible pre-k teachers and staff there!☀️❤️ 💡

Douglas hosted a "Camp Out and Read" family reading night on November 14th.🔥📖🪵
Families rotated through a variety of activities, including family reading time with flashlights, a camp craft, story time with Mr. Bob, and S'mores treat. Staff were overwhelmed by all of the families that attended. Thank you for spending your evening with us!

Bright Beginnings still has openings in their afternoon program! (11:45-2:15)
If you have a student turning 3 or 4, please call Mrs. Newberry at 815-875-6075.

David Hornbaker from Hornbaker Gardens generously donated some time last week to help Douglas Students plant a butterfly garden as part of their landscape enrichment project.
Douglas students raised over $3300 to help beautify the school grounds, and they got their reward last Wednesday when custodian Bob Espel let them all help shave his beard.

Douglas Kindergarten and PreSchool students had beautiful weather for Beach Day this year!

Douglas Pre-School staff and students enjoyed a beautiful day at Zearing Park for the annual family picnic. What a great way to kick off the end of year festivities!

Douglas students have been collecting money for the past several weeks and the grand total is in... $3,332.00 has been raised to help improve the landscaping around the building. Custodian Bob Espel challenged the students to see which class could raise the most money and offered to let the top class shave his beard, and the runner up to help shave his head! While Mrs. Richard's class ended up in first place, Mrs. Pinter's in second, and Mrs. Caldwell's in third, we think every student ended up winning this challenge. All proceeds will go towards new landscaping around the Douglas building, with the first round of plantings to take place with students present this Thursday, May 23rd. The famous beard will be shaved on Wednesday, May 22nd.

On May 6th, my mom's were able to come in and hang out with their child and have donuts for about 30 minutes.
We also showed them a few brain breaks.
On May 14th, it was dads turn!!!!💙🍩🩷

The afternoon Bright Beginning’s classes visited the fire station today⛑🚒❤️
