Students in Mr. Whitford's Advanced English class were tasked with writing an essay where students imagined having lunch with a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Nancy Gartner the Regent and American History Chair for our local Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter presented participation certificates to each author. Nancy also announced Leena Gutshall as our local chapter winner for her essay titled, "The Interview with Oliver Walcott." Leena will be honored at a future luncheon with other district winners and will be entered to the further rounds of the national essay competition. Attached photos show the presentation of participation certificates and Nancy's presentation to Leena for winning the district award.
