What is going on in Mrs. Grieff's first grade classroom you ask?
Students have been working hard on phonics and took those skills they have been practicing to play some fun learning games. Not only did they practice the floss rule, but so many other social emotional lessons were incorporated into this activity! Students learned about the importance of taking turns, problem solving, voice tone and volume, being a good support, and accepting criticism/feedback. The kids had so much fun and it was great to see them work together to accomplish more than just learning to build words!

Students in Mrs. Ellberg's first grade class ventured outside for a leaf project!
After collecting their leaves, they piled them inside the classroom to examine them and found that they have veins and each one is unique, just like our students!

First Grade students got to spend the day at Tanner's Orchard last week. They followed the life cycle of an apple from seed to cider! They even got to sample fresh pressed cider and donuts!!

Don't forget, Jefferson Families! Picture day is Tuesday, September 16th!

We do more than just read in the Jefferson Library! This week we showcased skills we have been learning during Computers this year.💻 First Graders combined their creativity and clicking & dragging skills to compose BEAUTIFUL music on their Chromebooks.🎵 Second Graders demonstrated their typing, spelling, creative writing,Google Slides knowledge, public speaking and their highly developed sense of humor by designing their own Graphic Novel pages in Google Slides. It has been a great year in the library. 🤩

If you are a parent of a child with developmental needs, think about reaching out to BMP to join their upcoming discussion on May 6th.

2nd grade students, armed with gloves and sacks😊, did a litter pick up for Earth Day at Jefferson!💚🌍💙

The second grade students learned all about how awesome pigs are in "Ag in the Classroom"!!!!🐷🩷

The Princeton Fire Department spoke to Jefferson first grade students about fire safety and fire fighter gear!
They demonstrated for the student all the protective layers it requires to stay safe and how quickly they have to be able to put it all on! (they may have counted a little faster than the stopwatch ; )
Jefferson Library enjoyed special guest reader and local author, Julie Pinter on Friday. Julie shared pictures, videos and her experiences in Uganda with students and read her published book "An Unusual Love" about a unique bond between two special elephants.
Thank you, Julie for sharing with our Jefferson students! Anyone interested in purchasing a copy of "An Unusual Love" can contact Julie Pinter via direct message on Facebook.

Mrs. Murray's first grade class learned about the first thanksgiving and celebrated with a traditional feast of craisins, cheese, beef jerky, bread and butter. They even made their very own butter from scratch!
